Materials

GPPS

Polystyrene is a polymerization product of styrene (vinyl benzene), thermoplastic polymer of linear structure. It is widely used due to its good physical and mechanical properties, environmental safety, chemical inertness to many substances, moisture, electricity, and frost-resistance.

Acrylic

Acrylic is a transparent thermoplastic homopolymer known more commonly by the trade name “plexiglass.” The material is similar to polycarbonate in that it is suitable for use as an impact resistant alternative to glass (particularly when the high impact strength of PC is not required).

SMMA

Styrene methyl methacrylate (SMMA) is a clear amorphous thermoplastic. This type of copolymer has high transparency (cyrstal clarity), high rigidity, excellent scratch resistance, good chemical resistance (slightly higher than PMMA) and very low moisture absorption.

ABS

ABS is amorphous and therefore has no true melting point. ABS is a terpolymer made by polymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. The proportions can vary from 15% to 35% acrylonitrile, 5% to 30% butadiene and 40% to 60% styrene.

HIPS

HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene), also known as PS (Polystyrene), is an amorphous thermoplastic material, used in lower heat applications. It is categorized as a standard material, and offers ease of processing, high impact strength, and stiffness.

Polycarbonate (PC)

Polycarbonate (PC) is an amorphous clear plastic suitable for industrial engineering. This versatile thermoplastic polymer is easy to process and has many applications. It is mainly used for medical devices and parts but can also be used as a stronger substitute for glass.
